Laura Lydia Gonzalez (Bass & Bb Clarinet)
Laura Lydia was born in Havana, Cuba, in a family of musicians. Her grandad, Marcos Gonzalez was one of the lead singers of the legendary Arsenio Rodriguez during the late forties, her dad is Juan de Marcos Gonzalez and her “great uncle” the great pianist Ruben Gonzalez. Laura graduated as a clarinetist from the Havana Conservatory and continued her education at the prestigious Ollín Yoliztli Conservatory in Mexico City, where she also frequently performs with several Camera and Symphonic Orchestras and Latin bands. Besides being and excellent clarinetist, Laura also plays Piano, sings and arranges. Laura has performed at many events and festivals, including The North Sea Jazz, Glastonbury, Roskilde, Singapore SUN Festival, Montreaux, etc. She’s also recorded in many albums including the Grammy nominees Step Forward and Bajando Gervasio.
Jiovanni Cofino (Bass)
Born and raised in a popular neighborhood known as ” Los Sitios ” in Havana, Cuba, he showed interest in music at a very young age. Graduated from National School Of Arts in 1995 on Acoustic Bass, he starts his professional career as a Pianist and Musical Director of one of the cuban top ensembles, “Banda Meteoro”, to later join “Elio Reve y su Charangon“ as Bass player and Musical Director, recording three LP including his own compositions. Along his career he has recorded with such famous artist like Richard Egües, Issac Delgado, Guajiro Mirabal, Rolo Martinez, Chucho Valdes, Manolo del Valle, Ernan Lopez Nussa, etc. He has participated also in many World Tours playing at very important stages in Europe, Asia, US and South America. Since he emigrated to Las Vegas, US , he has collaborated with artist like Oscar d Leon, Jose Alberto el Canario, Manolin El Medico de la Salsa, Alvaro Torres, Ray de la Paz , Frankie Negron and many more.
